With ongoing concerns about the Coronavirus, international student visas, closed campuses, and online versus classroom learning, the number of international students will most likely decline in the upcoming application season, potentially resulting in more admissions opportunities for both students from China and American Born Chinese. Additionally, the elimination of several varsity athletic teams at some Ivy League schools will decrease the number of recruited athletes, opening up more admissions opportunities for the general population of students. Lastly, more middle and lower-income American students will likely delay applying to colleges or defer college admissions for Gap years or employment opportunities in order to defray educational costs. This promises to be an unprecedented application season to competitive United States schools.
